SHRI KSHETRA GANAGAPUR DATTATREYA TEMPLE
PUJAS AND SEVAS
1. SUVARNA PADUKA POOJA
Everyone can perform Suvarna Paduka pooja in which the Devotees can offer Flowers to Suvarna Paduka and can do mangalarathi and a coconut will be blessed to Nirgun Paduka and given as a “Shreephal” to the devotees as a prasad.
2. PANCHAMRUTA RUDRABHISHEKA
Any form of worshipping of God is said to be as very holy and can give us in return to get peace in life and make free from worries. Rudrabhishek is very important to perform in Ganagapur as the importance was described by Narasimha Saraswathy in Gurucharitra Chapter no 34 as Rudradhyaya Mahima.
Rudrabhishek of Eka avarthan/ Ekadasha aavarthan etc will be done in temple premises in the Abhishek Hall. Brahman’s will chant all Vedokta mantra’s required for that Abhishek and will do sankalp to get devotees wishes to get fulfilled and there will be continuous flow of water/milk on Shiva linga till Abhishek completes..
Extension of above Rudrabhishek are Laghu Rudra, Shata Rudra, Maha Rudra, Ati Rudra Abhishek…. Which requires much more time to perform and more Brahmins to complete the no of times chanting of Rudravartan (Chamak and Namak).
3. KESHAR (SAFFRON) LEPAN PADUKA POOJA
This Pooja is having very much Importance at Ganagapur as the Keshar (Saffron Paste mixed with flower oils i.e. Attar) is Smeared on the Nirgun Paduka and the same Keshar Lepan is given to the Devotees as the Prasad in a small box. This Prasadam is of Great Importance and is considered as the Main Prasad of Sri Kshetra Ganagapur. This Seva includes all the above 2 Sevas also.
4. MAHA POOJA
It includes above pooja and the devotee can sit in front of Suvarna Padukas and after the Sankalpam is done they can perform Kshirabhisheka to the Sphatika Linga worshipped by Narasimha Saraswati Maharaj.
5. MAHA NAIVEDYA
Maha Naivedya is one of the kind seva who knows the importance if he/she is regular visitor to Ganagapur and abide follower of Shree Guru Dattatreya.
Since when swamy kept his Nirgun Paduka in “Nirgun Math” and ended his holy avatar of Shri Narasimha Saraswati every day Maha Naivedya is being taken care from Bhaskar Brahman Lineage (Vamshastha) as per Guru Charitra chapter No 38 which are priests of Nirgun Math in Ganagapur.
Since 16th Century till to date not even a single day has been missed of this Maha Naivedya even at tough times and adverse situations also even when whole world was disturbed due to the COVID-19.
It is the food that is offered to God as per Ganagapur temple rituals at 12.30 PM afternoon which is prepared with highly pristine state of mind or conscious. The intention is to stay clean both in mind and body while preparing the Holy food. It is the main Naivedya and Maha Magalarathi which will happen both at same time.
Maha Naivedya contains the offering 5 sweets as Naivedya mainly includes ( Obbattu i.e. Holige, Hooran in Kannada, Pooranpoli in Marathi, Boli (Malayalam/Tamil), Bobbatulu in Telugu). Maha Naivedya consists of providing two food to the Sevekari’s (100 sevekari’s) or the ones who are staying in temple from long time for temple seva purpose for those providing food will be from priests home who are having the term of “Maha Naivedya”.
In Ganagapur there are mainly 4 families from Bhaskar Brahmana Vamshastha who are taking care of each temple pooja and Maha-Naivedya related activities till present, the Maha-Naivedya will be prepared by one of the Pujari’s(Priest) home every day.

6. DATTA HOMA (HAVAN)
Homa, Havan’s is said to be very auspicious to be performed to seek blessings in the form of Yagnya by means of Agni. Before doing Havas Japa, Anushthan has to be done to call the God and praise him to seek his blessings by chanting the specific veda mantra for the number of times which is prescribed in the holy books. Once the japa, Anushthan is completed the Agni day we have to perform the Havan’s. Havan will be covered of Navagruha Sthapana, Navagruha Pooja, Navagruha Havan, Mandala Darshan, and actual havan by chanting Datta Malamantra and Datta Gayatri Mantra once all the rituals are done for homa, Purnahutia and Bali will be performed to wind the Homa.
7. MADHUKARI SEVA (OFFERING ALMS)
There is an assurance given by Shri Guru Narasimha Saraswati (God Datta) to the people of Ganagapur in Shri Guru Charitra i.e., “Vasathi Rani Sangamase, Jate Nithya Bikshese, Taya Gangapurase, Madyana Kale Pareyasa” In these Marathi Words Shri Datta Guru has given an Assurance to all his Devotees that he would forever continue to accept alms at Sri Kshetra Ganagapur in the Afternoon Time. As it is believed that Datta Maharaj himself takes the bhiksha here at afternoon, each and every one Visiting Ganagapur must offer Madhukari (Bhiksha/alms) to some people at least and also accept bhiksha from 5 houses as the Prasad. Its hardcore belief of God Dattatreya follower to ask Bhiksha at Ganagapur. By asking Bhiksha a person’s ego will be laid down.
8. SARVA SEVA
Includes all the Sevas at the Temple from Morning to Night. i.e. Panchmruta Purvak Rudrabhishek, Suvarna Paduka Pooja, Annadan, and Palakhi Seva in the evening.
9. VISHESH SEVA
Vishesh Seva in the temple depends on your arrival and the date if any festives comes. Special seva is offering Maha Naivedya in Ganagapur which will be done in temple at 12.00 PM noon while doing Maha Mangalarathi, and it will be covered offering food for all the workers in the temple who will start by 3.00 AM early morning to night 9.00 PM. (This will be depends on booking and availability).Vishesh seva consists of all sevas that are being performed in the temple.
10. PALAKHI SEVA (PALANQUIN OF THE GOD DATTA)
Every day at Ganagapur there will be Palakhi Seva of the God Datta at around 7:30 pm to 8:30 pm and the Palanquin will be Circumambulating the Temple along with Chanting, Singing, and doing Bhajans, hymns in praise of the God Datta and the Devotee performing this seva can have Opportunity of sitting in front of the Deity of Shri Datta (Utsav Murti which will be kept in Palakhi) exquisitely decorated with Mahapooja with flowers and Alankar depends on Tithi (Indian Calendar and festive on that day).
11. NANDADEEP SEVA FOR DEEPAS IN THE GARBHA GRUHA
In this Seva, the Sankalpam will be done in the Name of the Devotee and his family for his Spiritual and Worldly healthy Well-being. This seva can be do ne for a specified period of time like 1 week, 3 weeks, a month etc. Nandadeep seva is said to be important for health issues or diseases to get cured by blessings of God Dattatreya. Three Lights will be lightened in the Garbha Gruha for well-being of the devotee’s.
