🔱 Essential Abhishek Samagri (Materials)

1. Panchamrit (Five Sacred Substances):
Cow’s Milk
Curd (Yogurt)
Ghee (Clarified Butter)
Honey
Sugar
2. Holy Water:
Ganga Jal or purified water
in a copper vessel
Water infused with Tulsi or Kusha
3. Optional Fruit Juices:
Coconut water
Sugarcane juice
Fresh banana or mango juice
4. Fragrant/Herbal Waters:
Rose water
Kewra water
Sandalwood (Chandan) infused water
5. Sacred Leaves & Flowers:
Bilva (Bel) leaves – for Shiva
Durva grass – for Ganesha
Tulsi leaves – for Vishnu or Dattatreya
Fresh flowers like Lotus, Amla, etc.
6. Additional Offerings:
Incense sticks
Diya (lamp)
Fruits and Naivedya (food offering)
Akshata (unbroken rice)
Sandalwood paste

🕉️ Simplified Abhishek Procedure

  • Begin with a personal bath and wear clean, modest attire.
  • Sprinkle holy water around the idol and altar for purification.
  • Offer Panchamrit on the deity while chanting:
    “Om Namah Shivaya” for Lord Shiva
    “Om Shri Gurudev Dattaya Namah” for Lord Dattatreya
  • Continue with herbal waters or fruit juices as a second phase of Abhishek.
  • Conclude with plain water (preferably Ganga Jal).
  • Apply sandalwood paste and offer flowers, Tulsi, and garlands.
  • Perform Aarti and recite mantras, slokas, or stotras.

📿 Recommended Chanting

  • For Lord Shiva:
    Om Namah Shivaya – chant 11, 108, or 1008 times
  • For Lord Dattatreya:
    Om Shri Gurudev Dattaya Namah
    or
    Om Dram Dattatreyaya Namah

  • Shravan Somvar (Mondays):
    Special puja and fasting for Lord Shiva
  • Guruwar (Thursdays):
    Ideal for worship of Lord Dattatreya and Gurus
    like Shripada Shrivallabha, Narasimha Saraswati, and Swami Samarth
